Host(s):

Alphenor victoriensis associated with one species of Acacia [MIMOSACEAE].

Diagnosis:

Colour

Body dark orange or medium to dark brown, with scattered pale yellowish markings on the dorsum. Venter of body is pale brown to yellowish, with few dark markings. . Antennae dark orange or medium brown with paler bands on third and fourth segments.

Texture

Dorsum densely and uniformly punctate; pronotum and scutellum moderately rugopunctate.

Vestiture

Glabrous.

Structure

Body - elongate-ovoid; dorsally flattened.

Head - subtriangular in shape; head as long as pronotum, moderately dorsoventrally orientated; jugae longer than clypeus, either apically free (not meeting) or meeting, anterior margin pointed sometimes expanded into a short spine-like process, laterally carinate, with processes; antennifer processes present; four antennal segments, first segment as long as distance between eyes; bucculae elongate (posteriorly beyond antennifers); vertex convex; labium reaching between middle and hind coxae; eyes not stylate.

Pronotum - hexagonal; calli well developed; humeral angles angulate; lateral margins carinate; anterolateral margins concave and crenulate; posterior and posterolateral margin straight.

Scutellum - triangular, elongate, apex narrowly rounded, lateral angles without polished calli, remainder of scutellum unmodified.

Thoracic sterna - prosternum and metasternum not sulcate, mesosternum with low raised keel.

External efferent system - well-developed, occupying most of metepisternum; peritreme short, tapered apically and extending outward from body.

Hemelytra - macropterous; extending to apex of abdomen; membrane veins elongate and linear, mostly subparallel.

Legs - tibiae sulcate.

Abdomen - connexiva visible beyond hemelytra; laterotergites armed with posteriorly directed spines; with a weak broad depression across sterna II and III.

Remarks:

The jugae processes of Alphenor are expanded and directed upwards where they overlap the internal edge of the antennifers.
