Type species: Cimex anchora Thunberg, 1783 by original designation. Number of Australian species: Two. Extralimital Distribution: Afrotropical Region - Madagascar, South Africa; Oriental Region - Burma, (= Myanmar), India, Indonesia (Java, Sumatra), Malaysia, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand; Palaearctic Region - China (People's Republic). Australian Distribution: Temperate, subtropical and tropical regions; New South Wales, Queensland and South Australia. Biology: Unknown. Host(s): Unknown. Diagnosis: Colour Dorsally predominately green with black and yellow or orange markings on head, pronotum, scutellum and connexiva; hemelytra white or white with yellow and orange markings and black punctations. Ventrally pale to medium brown and green or predominately green. Legs and antennae green basally, pale to medium brown apically. Texture Densely and uniformly punctate dorsally, ventrally punctations concentrated anteriorly. Vestiture Glabrous. Structure Body - Elongate-ovoid, dorsally convex. Length 3.4 mm - 7.0 mm; width 3.0 mm - 5.5 mm. Head - Subtriangular, moderately dorsoventrally orientated, as long or longer than pronotum; jugae equal in length to clypeus, apically pointed, laterally carinate; antennifer processes absent; five antennal segments, first segment shorter than distance between eyes, inserted below mid-height but above ventral margin of eyes; bucculae elongate (posteriorly beyond antennifers); vertex cross-sectional shape convex; labium extending onto abdomen to third or fourth sterna, first labial segment equal in length to bucculae; eyes not stylate, directed laterally. Pronotum - Calli present and clearly visible; pronotal collar present; anterior lobe surface flat; humeral angles rounded to slightly subangulate; lateral margins carinate; anterolateral margins simple and straight; posterolateral margins straight to slightly sinuate; posterior margin straight. Scutellum - Triangular, apex broadly rounded; lateral calli absent; medial callus absent. Thoracic sterna - Prosternum not sulcate; mesosternum with low raised keel; metasternum not sulcate. External efferent system - Evaporative scent gland covering half metepisternum; peritreme elongate, apically pointed. Hemelytra - Macropterous, longer than abdomen; membrane veins linear and mostly subparallel. Legs - fore tibia sulcate. Abdomen - Connexiva visible dorsally; laterotergites armed with tiny posteriorly directed spines.
